English with Jersey Language Adventure

This year (2025) we’re celebrating 16 years of English and Adventure!

We don’t post a lot on social media about our English classes since our photos and videos normally showcase our amazing adventure activities that compliment our English courses. Taking photos of kids in a classroom somehow doesn’t have the same shine and quite often our students don’t like being photographed in class. We’ve tried, but it’s not easy!

Looking back over the last fifteen years, we think we have achieved what we originally set out to do which is to ‘provide our students with an unforgettable adventure… in English!’ It’s a simple concept but it’s been extremely effective and the fact that our programme has not changed much over the years is testament to the great results. Hundreds of 5 star Google reviews ( please leave us one if you haven’t already done so 😉 ) reinforce our belief that our programmes really work!

We’ve seen hundreds of students over the years (many of them more than two or three times) and we’d like to say thank you for trusting us with your time! On a one or two week language stay, time is finite. The weeks fly by and before we know it another season has come to a close and we’ve said ‘hello and welcome’ and ‘bye’, or more often ‘see you next year’  to hundreds of students.

This is why at Jersey Language Adventure we try to make the most of every moment available to us.  Our groups are small ( 5 students per classroom) and our  English teachers are amazing at what they do. With three hours of class time per day we can cover a lot in a week and our small groups make our task a lot easier. One of our golden rules is the ‘small group’ rule. Progress is so much faster with a small group and from a student perspective it’s way more fulfilling to be in a small group and actually have the time to talk!

We try to help our students find their ‘English voice’. What this means is to enable and empower each and every student to use the English they know with confidence. Making mistakes is okay and is in fact part of the journey to becoming a better language learner. Above all we try to make learning fun and to show our students how communicating in another language is an enriching and wholly satisfying experience.

Going back to the subject of ‘time’ (and how much we have of it), from a learning English perspective this means that learning doesn’t stop at the end of class. When class is over, is when the real magic happens. English learning continues throughout the day and long into the evening as we embark on an adventure as a small ‘big family sized’ group.  For our students, the potential to improve in English is huge as Lady and I continue to support and encourage our students to practice their English at every opportunity. We build on what was covered in class with a ‘practice, practice, practice ‘ attitude.

A word of advice if you’re considering coming to Jersey Language Adventure. If you don’t want to speak English, think again, because there is no place to hide! 🙂

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

David and Lady
